SLI3CD is a fully 3D-printed book that explores and documents the 3D-printing process beyond its immediate use case for rapid-prototyping/object manufacturing; re-examining the material properties of a ‘book’.
SLI3CD contains the author’s technical experiments with 3D printing a book from the point of view of a graphic designer. The bookstand utilises topology optimisation to generate tree-like supports for the book. These supports react to, and visualise the forces acting upon an open SLIC3D, its specific size, opening and tilt angle, as well as material mass.3D-scanned spread of SLIC3D.
