Initiated in 2021, hyperpress is a research programme and body of work exploring the intersections of 3D printing, graphic design and publishing—producing 3D printed books, objects and texts. The ongoing research traces the ontology of print by situating additive manufacturing within the lineage of the printing press.

Through book-making as a site of convergence, hyperpress proposes the cross-pollination of methodologies and mechanisms between 3D printing (object-making) and graphic design (mark-making) as a volumetric press. Part of the research was undertaken in the graduate department at the University of the Arts Singapore. hyperpress’s 3D printed books are held in the Singapore Art Museum Design Collection, have been commissioned and exhibited by ArtScience Museum, exhibited at National Design Centre Singapore, Open M Art Fair China, Ginza Graphic Gallery, and recognised by the Tokyo Type Directors Club.
